I used different colored peppers and didn't mensurate the ingredients exactly and I thought information technology was great! I used brown rice, extra garlic, and cooked it for a full of 1.five hours. Great flavor, I will exist making again!!!

This is a bully recipe. I used ground turkey and italian turkey sausage instead of beefiness. The turkey is lower in fatty which offsets the addtional cheese that I add.

Made these last night for dinner inverse a few things. I let the rice simmer in beefiness broth, sautƩed the onions, garlic added carrots and celery with Montreal spice.I also sautƩ the beefiness prior to stuffing the peppers. Mixed everything together adding grated cheese and breadcrumbs. The stuffing was astonishing! Stuff peppers and bake in oven at 350 for 45 min. Also found a zucchini in the fridge. Very delicious!!!! A must effort very like shooting fish in a barrel and quick

Although I made a few modest changes I must say that these are the best always!! I didn't accept chunky tomato sauce so just used canned chopped tomatoes and added love apple sauce to go the right amount. I used shredded pepper jack instead of parmesean. Biggest change was to use my Dutch oven instead of wasting parchment paper and foil. Still followed the temperature and time and they came out perfect! Thanks!!

Our favorite blimp pepper recipe! Nosotros but needed three medium sized peppers for our family, and then I adapted to 1 lb. of beef and i cup of rice. Still only used one-half the stuffing mix. I made 4 big meat balls with the remaining, boiled them in beefiness goop, then drained and put in the fridge. I also saved remaining pan drippings. Two days later, I skimmed fat off the pan drippings, poured information technology over the meatballs, and heated in covered dish in the oven. Served on egg noodles (tossed with butter & basil after cooking). Yummy again. Volition add a little pork sausage adjacent time, as suggested.

The whole family unit actually enjoyed this ane.add a few alterations though. I did not put the tops back on and replaced ane lb of the hamburger with a lb of hot breakfast sausage. I also put mozzarella and parmesan cheese in the stuffing mix. Then I sprinkled pepperjack cheese on top during the last 10 min in the oven.

Update: I accept made this soooo many times now. My family loves it, and I generally make this, due to the color variations, for Christmas Eve every year. I wish I could observe a way to thicken the sauce, but it's merely the fashion it goes; await a brothier sauce with some fatty from the beef. However, this my go-to and just blimp pepper recipe. Cheers again, years later. / Had leftover jasmine rice and have been wanting to make blimp peppers for a while. I never used a recipe earlier for stuffed peppers, but this is going in the volume. I honey everything about it. I scaled to 4 servings, and for the "chunky tomato sauce", combined 8oz. can of tomato sauce and a 15 oz. can of drained, diced tomatoes. Also used ground sirloin, and scarlet peppers. Followed the directions. Like shooting fish in a barrel to put together and baked information technology for 90 minutes. All I tin say is delicious!!! Have passed on the recipe to my siblings before even finishing my dinner. Thank you!

It may merely be a difference in preference, simply these weren't our favorite stuffed bong peppers. Stuffing with raw meat and baking yielded drier meat that was sort of caked together, rather than the crumbly, saucy peppers that nosotros were hoping for. Flavour was pretty good, although I might use one/ii of the garlic this recipe calls for if I were to make it once more.

I made this today for tiffin and it was a Big hit. I actually assembled it yesterday afternoon and refrigerated it overnight. I made it as written except for slightly less table salt. It was excellent! In the past I have made these where you blanch the peppers first and chocolate-brown the footing beef. I thought this was so much easier, fifty-fifty though it does take longer in the oven. The garlic and parmesan cheese gave the dish a wonderful season. I'm looking forward to making with half sausage, half basis beefiness side by side fourth dimension. The only thing was that I had to cook it longer than the recipe states. My peppers were big and I have a gas oven which always tends to take longer. I even bumped the temperature upward a bit for the outset half hour, but it withal took just shy of two hours. Cheers for the recipe!
02/11/2014
This is undoubtedly the best pepper recipe I've always eaten. I added a trivial Italian sausage to the burger and besides some herbes de provence to both the sauce and the meat. Wonderful!
01/23/2015
I make stuffed bong peppers all the time, but I have never thought to flatten the bottoms or poke holes so the juiced drain. So smart! I am also going to endeavour putting the peppers on a raised cooking sheet so the peppers don't swim in juice the whole fourth dimension. I highly recommend putting aluminum foil down besides to help with cleanup. These tasty buggers make a mess.

OMG. Absolutely loved this recipe. Best stuffed pepper'southward I've ever treated my mouth to. Next time, I've going to try and layer the meat/rice mixture with either Ricotta or Cottage cheese(whichever I have, volition drain cottage cheese). This recipe actually is amazing, though it did take a flake longer than I imagined to do the prep piece of work. Well worth it though. I used ground turkey to brand mine.
04/22/2014
This is so expert!!!!! I used Hot Italian Turkey Sausage (remove the castings) instead of ground beef, and used chicken goop instead of beef broth. Absolutely fabled!!!!!
07/24/2014
This was delicious! I used meatloaf mix (pork, beef, veal) instead of footing beefiness and regular not mesomorphic tomato plant sauce. I also establish that we liked information technology much better with ruby, xanthous, orange peppers vs. the greenish!
xi/15/2016
I more often than not used this recipe every bit a guide so, equally I commonly do, doctored information technology upwards appropriately. Instead of hamburger, I used Italian sausage. I precooked everything so bake time was quicker. I use marinara, chop up the tops and add them to the mix and, because the mix is already hot, bake fourth dimension is only most 45 min.

Great bones recipe! I made it acc to Chef john's instructions and they came out perfectly! I used 1lb ground beef and i/2lb sweetness Italian sausage. To the meat I added actress garlic, shredded carrots, herbs de provence, and a little sauteed onion along with Chef John's ingredients. I finished off some jarred spaghetti sauce and also used crushed tomatoes. Equally suggested by another reviewer, I cooked brown rice in the beefiness stock with a bay leaf and a clove of garlic. When adding the meat mixture to the peppers, I added a petty of the love apple sauce half style, then more meat, then topped with more sauce and the lids. I will line the baking sail with foil next time. My entire family loved information technology! Thanks, Chef John!!
11/14/2015
I have to confess, I don't like peppers! Only, I ate two of these! I used beefiness and venison, brownish rice and a can of fire roasted tomatoes and a modest tin of tomato plant sauce and dried parsley since I didn't have fresh. Otherwise I tried to follow the recipe pretty exactly. Information technology was very proficient and was done in an hour and a half. I will exist making this again, but not in a 9x13 pan...information technology'southward just also big. I'm going to use a taller casserole dish next time. I had almost a cup and a one-half of meat mixture left over and made six little meatloafs in a muffin pan with that. It's very, very good!
09/08/2016
really swell recipe. I used ground sirloin and italian sausage. I was out of worcestchire sauce then i used teriyaki sauce in its identify. I also used two numberless of Steam Fresh Birdseye Southwestern style rice (microwaveable) which saved some time. I used two numberless to cut down on the meat and plus we love rice. This was a cracking recipe that i topped off with a slice of provolone nether the broiler for a few minutes ( to chocolate-brown). This was easier to prepare than my usual recipe.
08/08/2019
This recipe reminded me so much of my momma'due south blimp bell peppers when I was growing upwardly! I beloved how flavorful Chef John fabricated it with the added cherry-red flakes! Perfect! I did observe that the video says i/2 cup of beef goop but the recipe says 1 cup. I call up one/2 cup should be used in guild to take a little thicker sauce! Honestly, this is a must effort recipe because information technology is spot on! Beloved this and cheers Chef John!!
03/31/2016
This is a very simple all in one meal to prepare and like shooting fish in a barrel cleanup. The sauce, although quite basic, had a nice flavor and went well with the peppers. The filling was practically a meatball in consistency later baking which I liked, simply my wife said she would prefer more than rice and less meat. I wanted to follow as written so didn't read others' tips and overall this makes a nice dinner, peculiarly with hot sauce. Next time I will likely add together some additional seasoning and possible apply yellowish rice to enhance things a bit. Proceed helpin me await expert Chef John!
09/10/2016
Made this last night and it was succulent! I did employ green peppers instead of cherry and I switched out the rice and used Farro in its identify. Next time I'll also add together more onion since we all love the gustatory modality.. As well, since I went a little over on the quantity of meat, I rolled the remaining meat mixture into tiny meatballs and put them in the sauce in between the stuffed peppers.
09/27/2015
Came out neat, even my two twelvemonth sometime was eating the peppers! I merely used a pound of ground turkey, and I added all the reserve love apple sauce to the meat mixture. Afterward stuffing, I used the sauce from the pan to garnish the tops. And I used curly parsley, it was astonishing. I did follow the recommendation to put a cookie sheet nether the dish. I think this helped proceed them moist, and the bells slightly crisp. I used orangish bells.
04/01/2015
Had lots of left over rice so added it to browned upwards ground beef, onion, jalapeno and our seasoning preferences. I cutting our peppers lengthwise ( personal) and baked with some seasoned diced tomato plant, about 45 min. Very prissy, easy dish. Would love to attempt with Italian sausage.
02/fifteen/2016
I microwaved the peppers for about 7 to 10 min, in gild to soften them, also precooked the sauce on stove. I was running late on time, yes I'll cook this again.
04/27/2019
I always loved my mom's stuffed peppers growing up which was basically meatloaf, stuffed in raw green peppers. When I got older and looked up the recipe, I saw it had rice, the meat was sauteed and peppers blanched first. I just went back to my Mom's manner. Only this recipe is my Mom'due south on steroids. I added 1 egg and a fiddling bread crumbs to the meat mixture and used Italian diced tomatoes along with the tomato sauce. It was delicious! The sauce is and so good; helps keep everything moist. He's correct, the cookie sheet makes information technology take longer just found it cooked evenly. I like the suggested way to cutting the peppers and using the lid. You can get alot more meat in there. I fabricated 4 and heaped them loftier like an ice cream cone. This will now exist my go to recipe.
07/27/2016
I used red bong peppers, Italian sausage instead of ground beef and quinoa in stead of rice (diabetic household) and used very picayune salt.. Used mozerella cheese cause that'south what Ihad on hand. I made 3 for me and 3 for my husband who likes a more than spicy flavor. In his I added Mrs. Dash Extra Spicy Seasoning and a pinch of habanero. They were delicious and we will definitely brand them again. My husband who is a Picky Eater and was quite hesitant about trying this, loved his. They re-warm up very well in the microwave.
08/10/2014
Get-go time having blimp peppers. Used this recipe. Turned out awesome. I loved the heat from pepper flakes. Used Rinaldi spag sauce instead of plain lycopersicon esculentum sauce. Will definitely brand once more.
08/26/2016
The rice was mush because information technology was already cooked, the bell peppers were almost raw.
05/05/2014
Yum! Dandy second phase food for babe!
03/22/2015
I made this recipe and substituted turkey instead of beefiness and it was a major hitting! Fifty-fifty my meat and white potato husband tried some of the bong pepper. That says a ton!
08/01/2014
Very expert, nifty apply of left over rice with not much burger. Economical and yummy!
07/12/2016
Was in a pinch for time, and then wanted to cook everything first. Hither were my changes: -Simply sliced the tops off 5 peppers (no other messing with them), and roasted them fifteen min @ 425 by themselves right on the oven rack (needed double this or increased oestrus) -Cooked the 1/ii finely cut onion and tbsp garlic in a pan, added one-half to the sauce at the lesser of the baking dish, left half in the pan. -Added sugariness italian flavored ground chicken to the pan, added ~ 1T of it. seasoning and cooked until done. I followed the rest of the recipe & these turned out fabulously. Adjacent time I'll use a little more sauce in the meat mixture, which is how my mom used to brand them. My married man and I both said "proceed!" to this recipe. I'll brand these again!
05/xiii/2015
Made with 1/2 ground beef and i/ii sweet Italian sausage. Blimp in green peppers. Delicious - Cheers Chef John
02/26/2017
Great dish, but takes much longer to melt. We at present melt the basis beef about 50% prior to placing in peppers, as you nonetheless need enough time to soften the peppers.
11/04/2016
I precooked the meat. That felt safer. I dear the Italian flair. Next time I will practise half Italian sausage. I also added shredded cheese to the top afterward the spoons total of tomato plant sauce. I call up it needs more sauce in the peppers.
03/23/2020
I make information technology a different style and less time consuming. I take out the core and all the seeds...so I boil the bell peppers 10 min ...while boiling I brown the ground beef onions with tomatoes sauce of your liking and as well seasonings of your liking....I like the knorrs rice 7 minutes and then I mix in with the ground beefiness...I then set bell peppers on a cookie canvas I put shredded Mexican cheese on bottom then fill with stuffing and sprinkle and repeat with Mexican cheese on tiptop put in oven for 350 degrees or fill cheese is melted....usually merely takes about about 5 to 7 minutes and voila done!!! My fiance...picky kids and friends hard workers love this recipe.never failed...delight enjoy
01/26/2016
I used 1 loving cup mozzeralla and i/two parmesan. I also substituted the parsley for oregano, thyme, and basil. I used craven broth instead of beef broth because...well...oops. I added in spinach and mushrooms. I used Prego three cheese tomato sauce.
08/04/2015
Loved this recipe! Brought back memories of Mom making stuffed peppers when we had an abundance of bell peppers in the garden. I made this recipe gluten-free and dairy free because of nutrient allergies in the family. Wonderful and easy to make. Next time I brand rice, I will make enough extra to take a head beginning on this recipe.
08/21/2016
This is delicious! I made it exactly as the recipe said.
01/07/2015

08/12/2015
I used this every bit the base of operations and added some cumin. My family loved it!
01/23/2019
I'g in the process of making this now but in the video you say to use 1/2 a loving cup of broth but the recipe says 1 cup. You said put two one/ii cups of tomato sauce in the pan only and so we need more than to put on top of the peppers and the same with the parsley. I'm simply a little dislocated but hopefully it turns out adept...
03/08/2019
I sprinkled mozzarella cheese over each one , yummy!!!!!!!!! These are perfect blimp bell peppers!!!
03/xix/2017
Love this recipe. By far the BEST stuffed peppers I've ever eaten...The whole family agrees!
x/10/2019

WAS led to believe they are of German language origin? The friend is Jerry Younger from the Far-Mar-Co Visitor. The Western Kansas community is Hays Kansas on I-70!
02/17/2020
I've made this keeping to the exact ingredients and it's a winner. However, tonight I made information technology over again but noticed I didn't have enough basis beef so, I took some cooked pork chorizo I had in the freezer to make upwards for the ground beefiness. Information technology was five stars before...but with the chorizo it'due south six stars.
12/19/2019
This stuffed bell pepper recipe was elementary to prepare and had a savory flavor. This is a meal that I will be making once again!
12/25/2019

06/13/2016

04/21/2021
This is a recipe to hang onto! So I took the communication of some other commenter and I boiled the bell peppers while I browned the meat. I allow my oven preheat at 375 and cooked ane pound of burger and a half pound of turkey sausage with olive oil, garlic, a can of mushrooms ,and part of a couple dark-green onion. While I let the grease drain off to the same pot I added a can of diced tomatoes, a tin can of tomato sauce, garlic from a jar, and the rest of the green onions. I seasoned with dried tyme, parsley, chili flakes, crushed bay leaves, and pepper. I added the meat back to the sauce along with my jasmine rice (rice cooker is a life saver). As yous can encounter I used a Dutch oven (and posted three times considering I didn't know what I was doing) there was no demand for me to cut the bottoms considering they all fit in the lesser nicely and could've fit a seventh. I used cooking spray on the lesser then assembled, mozzarella, filling, mozzarella, top of peppers. At that place was filling left over I just piled it into the heart and covered it with cheese likewise. Afterward I permit the whole affair cook for 10 minutes I baked the peak so the cheese got brown. So much fun to brand and very very tasty.
01/31/2019

03/22/2015
My wife is making me set up this for her over again tonight. Need I say more?
07/24/2016
Double batch for lunches and freezing. Very good simply second batch turned out better. Additional parsmesan and a footling mozzarella as well as diced tomatoes instead of tomato sauce. My new favorite blimp pepper recipe. Also added quite a bit more garlic. Personal taste. Excellent. Much easier than par-humid peppers like my old recipe called for. The parsley was a unlike twist too.
05/01/2016
I used red peppers, wild rice, 1 can Italian fashion diced tomatoes &1 can Italian tomato plant paste (instead of the chunky tomato paste), and vegan meat, delicious!
03/fourteen/2017
I made this last night for dinner. Hubby and I really enjoyed it, we switched the serving size down to four so in that location would exist leftovers to have to lunch. Really glad we did that. Only thing I would modify is the amount of sauce, I would prefer there to be more sauce and thicker.
01/10/2017
I think this is one of the best Beef and Rice Stuffed Pepper recipes I've ever made. The beefiness is very flavorful and the sauce is succulent. I used ane pound ground beef and i pound mild pork sausage. I used both sugariness red and green peppers that were quite large.
08/09/2017
My go-to recipe for stuffed peppers! I used to make them a sure manner for 10 years, but this is the fashion I brand them from now on. I absolutely love the onion and tomato plant sauce these peppers cook in. It is and then good spooned over the peppers, and a lot of times I have leftover sauce that I can re-use in other recipes, or enjoy in a bloody mary. This is a classic, simple, comforting dish that anybody will love. I can't wait for Fall/Winter to curl in so I can start using my oven again!!
04/26/2018
Simply made it for dinner tonight. Succulent ??!!!!! But affair that I did different was that U used tomato sauce with cheese already in it. Information technology was dollop good ??. 08/14/2016
I grew a lot of bell peppers and have been searching for a recipe and came across this one. It reminds me of my grandmothers then thought I would try it. :) I inverse a few things, I had just fabricated homemade salsa (pico) so I used this along with 1 cup of canned tomato sauce. I did not use the parsley merely had cilantro in the salsa. Really liked this and will do it once again.
03/07/2020
My girl and friend loved information technology! Admittedly delicious!
08/24/2020
I have made this so many times over the years, for guests and merely for us. I always use some form of marinara, either bootleg or if I am lazy, jarred. Yesterday I used a jar of Mid's Marinara. I ever slice a whole sweet onion and utilize ruddy and yellow peppers. I had bought a new chunk of parm only ended up using the remnants of some leftover parm, cheddar, and a fiddling cojack from the fridge that we had shredded over the past week for other meals and information technology was great. I can't imagine always going back to the sometime way of making stuffed peppers. I love Chef John.
04/26/2019
I mixed one lb ground sirloin and one/two lb pork sausage, plus all the other ingredients and made iii blimp peppers. They were delicious. Yum. I'll do this again with out a dubiousness.

02/02/2022
I added Italian sausage, minced garlic, beef base and substituted tomato paste for lycopersicon esculentum sauce in my mix. I also added onion soup mix and cut the salt intake to 1/2 tsp. And used spaghetti sauce for my pan base. It was and so good!
ten/31/2016
Made information technology substantially by the given recipe but took a few shortcuts: used dried onionbits in the sauce and the same tomato sauce in the meat equally in the pan- not a mesomorphic one. Of course I had to sprinkle more than grated cheese on top towards the end. Everyone loved it from the 1 yr erstwhile to the 70 yr old! Will exist making this again.
09/09/2021
Succulent! I used ground turkey and veggie bouillon instead of beef broth. The pan sauce with crushed reddish peppers is spicy, so I wiped it off the outside of the bell pepper before giving it to my i-yr-old. She loved it!
10/27/2020
Neat blimp peppers I changed to cherry-red peppers because I practise not similar dark-green
10/02/2020
Delicious
x/29/2017
This was a good recipe just I didn't accept the correct stuff....I had Infinitesimal Brown Rice that I didn't melt...I didn't brown the basis chuck, I cut the onions very small and didn't soften them....cooked the dish 60 minutes covered and a half 60 minutes uncovered....I also added a can of Italian tomatoes one/two in making meat and rice stuffing and half with the love apple sauce, I merely had a 8 ounce can.it turned out great and was moist and rice was done very flavorful...Thanks, Happy Cooking!
04/02/2019
I fabricated this every bit written and it was flavorful. My wife loved it.
05/xv/2019
I used ground turkey meat As well I used burn roasted tomato'due south for the pan as we similar a little spice in our life!
01/xix/2020
Showtime time making stuffed bell peppers I wish I can upload my picture it was pretty good I think if I would have let the bell peppers cook a petty bit more longer it wouldn't be so hard but yet soft and some places the ingredient was definitely easy to brand with the hamburger seasoning and cook rice and onions I'll definitely attempt it a unlike manner but overall it was okay.
12/09/2016
Just fabricated this, very good. Keeper recipe, will brand again. I did as another person did, used one can of diced tomatoes and a can of tomato sauce. Did bake for 2 hours though. I used cherry-red and orange peppers, just like the season of those peppers better.
02/21/2020
It was very good. I adjusted a few things only it was a slap-up guide
05/08/2020
The hubby and I loved it. I used ground pork and basis turkey and only followed the recipe. Making it tonight for the second time.
04/10/2017
I followed all the instructions simply I felt the peppers were not every bit juicy every bit I expected them to exist, the meat was more of a hard ball in the middle. The taste of the filling was good. I will endeavour them once more only this time i think i will cook the beef separately.
